Every 2 weeks (some pediatric regimens every 4 weeks)
Mechanism of action
Human monoclonal antibody against the IL-4 receptor alpha subunit. Blocks signaling of both IL-4 and IL-13, reducing type 2 inflammation, IgE production, mucus hypersecretion and FeNO.
Dosing
Adult
Asthma: 400 mg SC loading, then 200 mg every 2 weeks (or 600 mg, then 300 mg every 2 weeks if OCS-dependent or with atopic dermatitis). COPD: 300 mg every 2 weeks
Pediatric
Age 6–11 asthma: weight-based (e.g., 100 mg every 2 weeks or 300 mg every 4 weeks for 15–30 kg)
Indications
Moderate-to-severe asthma with an eosinophilic phenotype, or oral-corticosteroid-dependent asthma (age ≥6)
COPD with raised blood eosinophils (≥300 cells/µL) uncontrolled on inhaled therapy (US approval 2024)
